Project Diakonia

This year’s beneficiary is Project Diakonia. Project Diakonia’s mission is to empower underserved youth through vocational training and education, paving the way for them to transform their lives. Diakonia’s vision is a Colorado where every young adult has a pathway to success, regardless of their needs, barriers, or background. The organization focuses on the hardest-to-reach youth—homeless youth, out-of-school youth, those enrolled in alternative schools, those involved in the justice system, and those exiting foster care—offering vocational training, education support, career navigation, and financial support.

The 2026 beneficiary was selected as part of CHFA’s 2025 Direct Effect Awards. CHFA’s Direct Effect Awards recognize Colorado nonprofit organizations whose missions align with CHFA’s work to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. The top award recipient is chosen as the beneficiary of the David W. Herlinger Golf Tournament.
